Look What We Learned Today!

Writing Class -

The following students typed their stories and qualified to post them on our blog. We are learning about adjectives and how to include quality adjectives in our stories to catch our readers' interest.

The Foolish Fox
Once there was a sly fox and seeing some bread and meat left by shepherds in the hollow of a tree, he slyly walked over and got inside, and had a hearty meal. But when he tried to get back out he saw that he couldn’t, and mournfully and madly began to lament his fate. Then an hour later another fox came by and walking passed the tree inquired after his friends complaining. Then the swollen fox told his friend what had happened, and pleaded him to find a way to get him out. But then after thinking a while his friend only said” you’ll have to wait until you shrink.

                                                            The Humongous Fat Fox

Once upon a time, in a forest far away there lived a greedy fox. This fox’s name was Red. One day, Red crept to a hole of a tree looking inside he found a large yummy meal. Red crawled inside and started eating. When he was finally finished with his meal Red tried to climb back out. Out came his head, out came one front paw, out came the other front paw, and – Oh no! Red’s belly was stuck! Red moaned and groaned, he cried and sighed, but to no avail he was stuck like a cork in a bottle. After a while, Grey the Wolf came trotting by and hearing crying he went to find out what was wrong. Grey noticed Red’s head sticking out of the hole in the tree and said, “What is the matter with you Red? Why are you crying?” Red sniffled and said, “I found a huge meal of Buttered Rolls, Pork Chops, Hot Dogs, and Candy Canes so I climbed in here and ate every single bit of it. After I was done and tried to get back out but my stomach got stuck! Grey shook his head and stated, “You greedy little pig, I am afraid that the only way you are going to be able to get out of that tree is to wait till you lose some weight.” With that Grey the Wolf shook his head and trotted away leaving poor greedy Red to wait till his stomach shrunk to size.

Today's Writing Project -

Creepy, Crawly, Critters

There are many types of spiders. All spiders start as eggs. After the mother lays the eggs she usually dies. Sometimes there are thousnads of babies in on egg sack, bu only one or two actually live. It doesn't take long before the eggs hatch and the baby spiders start to grow. They look just like their mother except tey are usually lighter in color. Soon the baby spiders will be able to spin their own webs and capture their own food.

As we were learning about spiders, we spotted a small spider making his home in our classroom.
Watch this video to learn more about spiders!!!

Miss Blanchard's Story:
Don't Be Too Greedy!

In a green forest on a bright summer day, a red fox was roaming through the woods when he spotted in a hole in his favorite tree, a pile of fresh French bread and numerous juicy, mouth-watering, t-bone steaks. As soon as he saw this delectable treat he hurried into the hollow of the oak, where it was hidden, and heartily devoured the entire meal. When trying to leave the hole, he quickly discovered that he had stuffed himself with so much food that he couldn't fit back through the hole! The sorry fox began to lament his fate and loudly started complaining. Presently, another fox, who was a close friend, came charging toward the hole in the old oak trunk and was greatly surprised when he found his friend twice as large as usual and stuck in a hole in a tree. The wondering friend inquired after the poor fox's story. After listening intently, the only advice the friend could give was the terrible truth that the greedy fox would just have to patiently wait until his form was reduced to its normal size.

Whooo, Whooo Everyone!

Mr. Owl flew into our classroom last night. He likes our tree so much that he decided to stay here for the winter!

4th Grade News

Latin King Elephant -

First you take a Latin word and makes a sign. The sign goes around your neck so everyone can read it. Then you sit in a circle and memorize everyone's word. The game begins!
We started out slow today but next time I think they will be ready for a faster game with the out rules. When someone messes up they leave their card at that chair and they go to the back of the circle. Now you might end up with a new card. This game is very exciting and it really helps students (and teachers) to memorize their Latin vocabulary words!

Harry, Our Hairy Visitor

Mr. Rodrigo Martinez brought his long legged, hairy friend to visit the 4th grade class today. Harry sat in our classroom all day and learned math, Latin, science, and art with us!!!
