Mrs. Hill's Class

Today we had a very special guest teacher come and teach us! Mrs. Hill came with loads of goodies for our class. Gracious Mrs. Hill brought our class some delicious, melt in your mouth, cookies. Yummy! She also brought modeling clay in an array of bright colors. To inspire our class about our fish tank goal, she helped us make fish of our own out of modeling clay. We made all sorts of creative fish and critters, Mrs. Hill is going to bake them in order to make them hard and put magnets on them so they will stick to anything magenetic. Maybe we can decorate our refrigerators with them!

Thank you, Mrs. Hill! Please come again :)

Volcano Explosion

Today we had a fun experiment in science class. We combined different substances and made a volcano erupt. We used vinegar, warm water, dish detergent, and baking soda. Chris W. and Miss Blanchard made a fantastic mountain for our volcano experiment. When we combined all the ingredients it created a chemical reaction and a white explosion of bubbles appeared - POOF! - Molly and Katherine

Our Class made this short video so we could share our exciting science video with you! We are learning how to use Windows Video Maker - this video only took about 10 min. to put together!
At the time the explosion looked a lot bigger and better!

I really hope we make because I love to play wii and marbles with all my students. We are also taking our decorations down so check back tomorrow for some of our class room remodeling pics.

On Track and Tracking

Today the 4th graders did a fabulous job with moving quickly and making our academic goal for Fun Friday.
The day started with a refreshing math fact assessment and continued on down the same road with a Latin test and a spelling test. Each one of the students was listening, moving quickly, and was diligent in their work. I should add that some students would benefit with a little more practice in their Latin.
Today’s writing project was so spectacular. We started our first essay! This essay has 3 paragraphs – our usual writing projects consist of one paragraph. The cutter ant is an amazing animal it actually can cut through leaves and flowers! In each ant colony, there are different vocations: the soldier ants, the collector ants, the nurse ants, and the queen ant. Even ants have jobs and have to work! We really like writing on God's creatures, because as we learn to write we are also learning about God's creation.
When I think of ants I always think of this proverb -

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provides her meat in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.           Proverbs 6:6-8

We made our goal and we are ready for whatever tomorrow brings!

We Have a New Goal

25 Points = Fish Tank

We are earning points and making goals to get a fish tank and the different items that you need to have a fish tank such as, rocks, plants, fish, fish food etc. Students may bring in a presentation to convince the class of a specific kind of fish they think would be best for our class.
Our class also has a kids cash jar for credit donations. When the students earn a credit they can donate it to our kids cash jar and at the end of each month the donations go to what ever prize the children can agree on (that not as easy as it sounds).

Isn't this amazing. Ours won't be quite as big!!

We can earn points to get neat items for our fish tank this these.
